Rodgers Awaits New Contract Talks At Swansea

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says he’d like to stay at the club but has yet to have talks regarding a longer contract.

The Swans boss is currently on a 12-month rolling contract, but surely the club, now in the Premier League thanks to the manager, should be secured to a much longer contract. It’ll only be a matter of time before other clubs will be looking for a new manager and Rodgers is sure to be considered having guided the Swans to the top flight on a tight budget.

Rodgers says that he’s happy and that he ‘loves it’ at Swansea City and would sign a longer deal, but chairman Huw Jenkins has yet to invite him for talks about a improved and longer contract – the very least he deserves.

‘I feel there is a lot of growth left in the club and I want to help. I love the city and I love being here.’

‘When the board and chairman decide to maybe see me as the person to be here for a few more years, that is something they will do in time.

‘Until that time comes, I have not thought about it so much. I’m just concentrating on making the club as successful as it can be.

‘I hope to retain our [Premier League] status which is vital for us.

‘And whether I get a new contract or not, until my very last breath here at Swansea City my quest will be relentless trying to make us improve every day on and off the field.’
