Rangel has agreed terms on a new 3 year deal and will be signing on the dotted line within the next few weeks.

The 28 year old Spaniard has spent 4 years with the Swans and in that time has collected a League One winners medal and was one of five Swansea players named in team of the year.

Rangel has attracted interest from Blackpool and Fulham in recent times, so his decision to stay on at the Liberty will please Brendan Rodgers and the Swansea fans alike.

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins is said to be delighted with the out-come of discussions over personal terms.

He added: ‘We are very happy to secure Angel’s future for the next three years.

‘He has played a big role in the club’s success since he arrived here, and we were very keen for him to be part of our plans going into the Premier League.

‘Over the last few years there has been interest from Premier League clubs in Angel, but he is very pleased to have achieved his dream of reaching the Premier League with the club he left his native Spain for.’

Rangel played a pivotal role for Swansea City last year, making 41 appearances and scoring twice. He has made 159 career appearances for the club.
