Midfielder Darren Pratley has expressed his desire to secure promotion as quickly as possible following his brace in the 3-1 win over Hartlepool United on Saturday.

Everyone concerned with the club will be hoping to avoid the promotion push going down the the wire. Distance however has been put between Swansea and second placed Carlisle United , who could only manage a goalless draw against relegation candidates Gillingham. Cumbrians manager John Ward has signalled in recent days he has not given up on closing down Roberto Martinez’s side despite a seven point gap and with games quickly running out.

Ward Said:

‘I’m trying to chase Swansea and that’s what I’m saying to the lads.’

‘We have dug in and put on a show which shows that we are determined to stay in the race.’

‘It is really down to three clubs for those two places now and we’re trying to get hold of Swansea if we can.’

Carlisle face a tough task in closing down the leauge leaders and Swans fans are firmly earmarking the April 9th clash at Brunton Park as promotion day.Who would bet against the South Wales side? from securing promotion at Carlisle as the inevitable promotion party inches ever closer.

It is with that belief in the Swansea camp that has seen Pratley issue a rallying call to his fellow team mates to secure promotion as quickly as possible.

Pratley Spoke To The SWEP:

”We’ve got 82 points now and I think we’re nearly there,’ the midfielder said. But we want to enjoy the end of the season and we want clinch promotion as quickly as we can.’

‘We have worked hard to get this far and we want to enjoy what’s left of the season. We know that if we win three of our six games we’re guaranteed to go up and we’re all buzzing about that.’

‘I’m sure the whole of Swansea is buzzing about what we can achieve. If we’d slipped up at Hartlepool after Doncaster had beaten Forest, people would have been going on about the gap closing.’

‘But we got a big win and Carlisle dropped points so we’ve extended our lead at the top. I know Carlisle have got a game in hand, but it’s looking good for us.’

‘It’s in our hands so we just have to focus on getting our results right.’

The former Fulham man could see his wishes granted as soon as Saturday evening . Should Doncaster Rovers lose there next two fixtures against Leeds United and Huddersfield Town and Swansea win over Bournemouth then promotion will be in the bag with 5 games remaining.
