Garry Monk believes tonight’s match at Plymouth Argyle will be a test of character for Swansea City.

The club captain says the Pilgrims will pose a totally different threat to that of Newcastle United on Saturday. The poor playing surface will make it more difficult for Sousa’s side and Argyle are looking for points to get themselves out of the drop zone.

Monk said:

‘We have watched the videos and the pitch down there looks like a cow field,’

‘That is not going to be great for us, and it’s going to be a totally different challenge from Newcastle.

‘It’s probably not going to be pretty, but it’s one of those games where we have to try to grind it out like we did at Crystal Palace last week.

‘Some of the sides below us are playing each other tonight, so some of them are going to drop points and we need to take advantage.

‘But it’s going to be extremely tough. They are expecting heavy rain, too, so it’s going to be about character for us.

‘We have to show again that we’re not just a pretty team. We have to show we can do the other side as well.’
