Once again, Swansea City are favourites in their Europa League tie according to their opposition’s manager, Petrolul Ploiesti boss Cosmin Contra.

Malmo’s manager – who suffered a 4-0 aggregate scoreline against the Swans in the previous round, also said that the Premier League outfit were ‘strong favourites’ against his Swedish team.

He was proved right, after the heavy 4-0 scoreline in the home leg, but Swansea City will be wary of going up against a team they know nothing about.

Petrolul manager Cosmin Contra, who played with Pablo Hernandez under Michael Laudrup at Getafe said:

“They are the clear favourites,”

“Swansea is a team that have a lot of good players and a great manager.

“They also play in the Premier League and won a trophy last season. But when I look at Swansea I see good football and it will be hard for us.

“They are not a traditional English team – they play more like Spain. I played for West Brom for six months and there were a lot of long balls.

“But we have come here to play football and try to get back to Romania with a good result to try and give us a chance of qualifying for the next round.”

“I also know the Swansea players who played in Spain. I also played with (Pablo) Hernandez when he was with me at Getafe.

“I have also watched a lot of their matches, they are a very good side and will be looking to bounce back after the defeat to Manchester United.”
