Swansea City have released trialist striker John van Beukering after he failed to impress during his week at the club.

The Dutchman didn’t arrive at the Liberty Stadium with too much promise though. He’s struggled for goals in recent seasons and has a reputation in his home country of being overweight – nicknamed ‘John van BurgerKing’.

The 26 year-old told press in Holland that whilst it’s a pity not to be offered a contract, he said he didn’t really like the “conditions”.

Swansea City are keen to add a striker to the squad for the new season and Ipswich Town striker Tamas Priskin has been strongly linked with a move to South Wales.

Recent reports suggest the Swans are lining up a £400,000 bid for the Hungarian international, but the Tractor Boys are unlikely to accept a bid for a player they paid £1.7m for just 12 months ago.
