CAN THE FANS HELP THE SWANS MAKE IT THROUGH THE FOURTH ROUND?

Swansea City are currently doing well in the FA Cup and are now facing holders, Portsmouth, but is it all down to the team or will it be the superstitious Swans fans who help sway the score on Saturday? (24 Jan).

In a recent survey by Nicotinell®, the official smoke free partner of The Football League®, 65 per cent of Swansea City fans admitted to carrying out a lucky ritual in a bid to boost their team`s chance of success. Some of the favourite things fans choose to do to bring the team luck include wearing their lucky pants or team colours to every game and tying their scarves in a certain way (65%).

One in three opt for carrying out a lucky sign or action at the match and one in five believe that only eating or drinking certain brands of food and drink will increase the teams chances of scoring. Swans` fans should watch out when the oppositions` fans start making some noise though, as almost a quarter of Portsmouth fans choose to sing or shout the same song or chant as their favourite lucky ritual.

So while Robert Martinez`s men prepare for the challenge of meeting the Premier League side, the Swans` fans will also be preparing and let`s hope the power of their lucky rituals helps to see them through the fourth round.

Having supported many of the 9 million2smokers across the nation in their bid to quit the habit, for over 15 years, Nicotinell® are experts in habits, good and bad. They are giving fans the chance to win season tickets and a share of £100,000 for their club`s community initiative as part of their search for the nation`s funniest and quirkiest football rituals and habits from fans all over the country.
