Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has ruled out a return to Swansea City for striker Marvin Emnes after spending a month on loan at the club.

"The fact that he shone for us doesn’t mean he’ll automatically do it for Boro."

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers was keen to extend the Dutchman’s stay at the Liberty Stadium but a change of manager has made our chances very slim in bringing him back to South Wales.

Tony Mowbray is keen to keep Emnes and has ruled out loaning out any of his players:

Middlesbrough paid a lot of money for Marvin Emnes and he is our player,’

‘We have to do what is right for our club and I want to work with as many good players as I can. Marvin is a good player. He has only trained with us for one day so far, but it is up to him to get his place back in our team.

‘We need our good players so at this moment there is no thought of letting anybody out on loan.

‘I will assess Marvin over the next few weeks and we will see whether we can utilise him.

‘He will give us some different qualities in attack ? we don’t have the sort of natural wide players Swansea have. He might have been useful for us today because of his pace, and I am looking forward to working with him.’
