Garry Monk was looking to put last season behind him after 3 red cards resulted in him missing a quarter of the season through suspension.

He was hoping for a fresh start in League One but luck still isn’t going his way. He has started just 5 games out of 16 this season and a calf injury has kept him out of action since early October.

With limited training this week and the players travelling to Stockport tomorrow, Monk lost the race to be match fit for the FA Cup’s opening game.

”Garry trained with me on Tuesday and the lads are going up tomorrow so he won’t be ready for the weekend,” said club physio Richie Evans.

He should be fit for the tough away trip to League One leaders Southend next week as the club physio expect him back in training from next week: ”I hope to have back in full training on Monday.”
