Swansea City skipper Garry Monk said that this week is the biggest of the season for the club.

Paulo Sousa and his squad look forward to two away trips this week, tonight’s match at Plymouth Argyle before Saturday’s trip to Derby County.

Monk told the Evening Post that they had a team meeting this week when they claimed that this is the most important week of the season.

We have two tough away games in the space of 5 days and the club captain says it’s a chance to increase the gap from the teams below us, but dropping points would mean we’d slip back amongst the other top 6 contenders.

‘We had a team meeting yesterday and we said this is the biggest week of the season so far,’

‘We have got two tough games away from home and it’s a chance for us to extend the gap between ourselves and the teams below us.

‘If things don’t go our way this week we will get drawn back into the pack, so it’s important that we get some good results.

‘Ideally we would want six points, but if we could pick up four that would be a decent return.

‘Maybe two draws would be okay when we look back at the end of the season, but we want to try to win both games.

‘If we can start off by beating Plymouth, we will be firing going into Derby.’
