Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup admitted that his side got ‘slaughtered’ at Liverpool as they suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat.

Laudrup might have made a host of chances to rest key players for the Capital One Cup final, but he has made changes before and has got results.

Today they looked extremely weak and vulnerable, particularly in defence as Garry Monk was the only player who deserved any credit.

Laudrup, as always, told it exactly how it was – a ‘nightmare’:

“It was a nightmare. We got slaughtered,”

“We stayed in the game in the first half, but then we gave away three goals at the start of the second. It was awful and I just have to say sorry to the fans who travelled up here.

“We are all responsible, and I include myself. I pick the team. I left out two players because I wanted to make sure they are okay for the final – Michu, our top-scorer, and Ashley Williams, because we don`t know if Chico (Flores) will be fit.

“But that`s not an excuse. We have made changes in a lot of games in the last couple of months and we have still been competitive, but here there was nothing – we could have lost 10-0.

“I thought the team I picked could be competitive but I was wrong and I have learned a lot from this. I saw some things which will be important for me in the future.”
