Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup said he was pleased with side’s performance in the 0-0 draw at home against Liverpool.

The result was probably a fair one over the entire 90 minutes, but both teams had chances to get all three points in an entertaining goalless draw.

Liverpool looked the more likely team to score in the first half having had a goal ruled out for a very close offside call that the linesman did well to spot.

Swansea City’s Pablo Hernandez looked like their biggest threat in the game while de Guzman wasted a chance to create the opening goal when he made the wrong choice to shoot with his weaker left foot, with team-mates free inside the box.

Laudrup said he was happy that his team were able to ‘extend the momentum’ as their unbeaten run has now increased to four League games.

“The clean sheet is good but I do not mind if it was 2-2. The most important thing was that we extended our momentum.

“We lost 1-0 to the champions but that was our only defeat in eight games.

“This is a difficult week for us because we play three games in six days against Liverpool, this season`s surprise West Brom and then Arsenal.

“Imagine if we could get a result on Wednesday? That would give us 20 points before December, which would be fantastic.

“It is important to maintain a certain level and keep picking up points even when we are not playing well, but I thought we have been very good in the last two games.

“When things are going right it gives the side a lot of confidence and we are seeing that.”

Speaking about his team’s performance, Laudrup added:

“It was a good point. I thought we deserved that point,”

“I thought it was a good game between two sides playing good football.

“When the game is 0-0 and you play well you can always say that you would have liked some goals.

“Liverpool played well and maybe had a couple of good chances more than us in the first half but I am pleased with the performance of my side.

“Obviously when you play Liverpool there are going to be times when they have a lot of the ball but at no point did I feel that we were under constant pressure.

“With Steven Gerrard and especially Luis Suarez they have two players who can create something from nothing but I thought we handled them very well.”

Laudrup praised Spanish duo Pablo Hernandez and Michu, with the former in particular looking most likely to create a goal.

“Pablo was great for us, we know with Joe Allen and Gerrard they have lots of quality in midfield but sometimes there is also some space there,”

“He came in from the right very well and got the ball into the box in dangerous positions.

“Michu also did very well, he is a goal-scorer but he is also a real worker.

“He can play in two or three positions and he works very hard for the team.”
