Ever since Jackett announced that Leon Knight was transfer-listed, it was obvious that there was a lot more to it than the reasons he had given to the press that day.

”Not working hard enough” and ”moaning too much” surely aren’t valid reasons to sell a player who’s been our top scorer so far this season and one who nearly took us into the Championship last season with his goals during the play-offs.

Jackett has finally admitted that it wasn’t just football reasons that has resulted in his eventual departure.

The Swansea boss believes the fans have the right to know the truth but will tell all only when he feels the time is right.

He said: ‘There’s more to it and the fans have got a right to know.

‘In the fullness of time they will. It’s just a question of when is best for the club, and at the moment it’s best left.

‘The fans need to know exactly what my thoughts are on the whole matter, but now all I can tell them is that putting Leon on the transfer list is not a decision I made lightly and I feel it’s the best thing for the club.

Asked if he thinks he will regret his decision, Jackett said: ‘Will I come to regret it? I don’t think so. I think it’s without doubt the right decision for the club.’

While there are plenty of rumours going around as you’d expect to whats gone on behind the scenes, I’ve heard a few but I think it’s best to wait for Jackett to reveal all.

Jackett added: ‘Whether or not the fans trust me, I can assure them I’m acting with the club’s best interests at heart.’

Huw Jenkins has revealed that they have received enquiries about Knight but the player hasn’t been interested in a move so far.

He said: ‘I’m in touch with his agent every day but we knew when Kenny made his decision that it would be up to Leon to pick the right club for him.

‘We have had a few initial enquiries, but so far Leon hasn’t been interested in a move.’

Leon Knight says he is mystified by Jackett’s claims today.

He said: ‘I don’t know what I’ve done for it to come to this,’ Knight told the Evening Post.

‘And I hope the manager is 100 per cent sure of what he thinks I’ve done.

‘If he says there are non-football reasons, then I don’t know what he’s going on about.

‘I’m not saying I’m an angel, but I haven’t done anything so extreme that I deserve to be shown the exit door.

‘I’m content within myself and, as far as I know, I was put on the transfer list because I don’t work hard enough and I moan too much. But if they’re saying there are other reasons, I’d like to know what they are.

‘If there was anything else it would have come out a long time ago, so it would be nice if they could let me know what they’re talking about.

‘I’m not going to start slating the manager, but he seems to be saying one thing one minute and another next.’

Knight has also been told he has to train alone but this has not affected the striker and he insisted: ‘He pulled me yesterday and said he didn’t want me training with the team,’

‘But I’m a big man, and all this is only making me more determined to come back and show people what I can do.’
