Ki Sung-Yeung hopes an extra day of training will allow him to recover in time for Sunday’s home game against Liverpool

Ki Sung-Yeung hopes an extra day of training will allow him to recover in time for Sunday’s home game against Liverpool.

If the South Korean does return, it’ll be a big boost for Swansea City as the young midfielder has proven to be one of club’s most impressive Summer signings.

Ki missed the 2-1 away win at Newcastle United last Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

With the game being moved back a day due to Liverpool’s playing in Europe on Thursday, this could allow Ki to feature – whether on the bench on in the starting line-up.

Ki told the Official Site that he is ‘desperate’ to return:

“I`m feeling good,`’

“I trained on Wednesday and Thursday and so far everything seems fine. The extra day`s recovery is a bonus for me and I hope to make myself available for Sunday.

“I`ve recovered well over the last 10 days or so. The manager allowed me to go back to Korea for a few days for my sister`s wedding. That was good of him because it was the first time I had been home in three months.

“They were all pleased to see me, which was nice, and all the family said they have been watching the Swansea games live on TV out there.

Unfortunately most of the games have started at midnight in Korea, so there`s been no sleep on weekends!

“I made sure I had treatment when I was over there though, because I am desperate to play as soon as possible.

“Fortunately there was no tear in the hamstring, just a bit of damage, so I knew I shouldn`t be out for long.“
