Mark Gower says he can’t wait for the new season to start after scoring his first ever hatrick in yesterday’s 4-1 home win against Kilmarnock in a pre-season friendly.
The winger failed to score a single goal last season but already this Summer he has netted 4, the other goal he scored in the 2-0 win against Palamos during the Spain Tour.

“His third goal was a cracker similar to Tate’s goal from fare out.” | ||
Yesterday’s hatrick, which he completed thanks to a stunning right-footed strike, will give the former Southend United midfielder a huge boost in confidence ahead of the season’s opening match next Saturday away at new-boys Leicester City.
Mark Gower told BBC Sport:
‘Last year was pretty frustrating, I’m not used to going through a whole season without scoring,’
‘It’s nice to get a hat-trick, the first of my career and build a bit of confidence going into the season.’
‘Last year I was trying so hard coming to a new club I wanted to get off to a good start,’
‘Although I felt my level of performance was up to standard, playing in a front three I needed to score goals and that never happened.
‘I think I put more and more pressure on myself but I’ve had a long summer to think about it and I feel that I need to relax in front of goal and today has proved right.’
‘I can’t wait for the season to start,’
‘I’ve done enough as I can today. If I get the call, I’ll be ready.’
