Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis has again disappointed fans with his latest comments to the media – saying leaving the club ‘is possible’.

About a week ago we published an article here that featured quotes from the striker saying that it was ‘nice’ to hear other clubs showing an interest in him and that ‘we’ll see what happens’ after revealing that his agent has had talks with a ‘very big club’.

We had all moved on from that, Swansea manager Garry Monk wasn’t asked about them and they didn’t seem to be a problem, but Gomis has gone a step further this weekend by saying that ‘leaving is possible’ as he shows his displeasure at not being a first team regular since he joined on a free last Summer.

He said:

“I have been approached by clubs,”

“For the moment I am concentrating on Swansea. Me leaving? It is possible.

“I expected to play games, I came here with ambition. I have to think about what has happened.

“I don`t know what will happen.

“At my age, it is difficult to accept spending time on the bench.”

“It was planned that we would play up front together but it didn`t happen.

“It was a shame.”

Garry Monk cannot afford to lose the only permanent striker he has, and his departure would leave loanee Nelson Oliveira as the only available option up front following Bony’s £25m move to Manchester City.

Considering the interview was given today, you wonder why Gomis is still talking about playing on the bench when his manager has openly said that he is now his number 1 striker – and will play week in week out for the rest of the season at least – that’s if he stays.

It’s clear that he’s not happy at the club, and you’ll never get the best out of a player who’s distracted by a growing number of clubs showing an interest in him.

It’ll be interesting to see where Monk and Gomis go from here as there’s a few things that need to be addressed as these quotes to the media every week can’t go on.
