Swansea City midfielder Jordi Gomez has said he wants to stay at the club permanently if he’s not going to get first team football at Espanyol.

The Swans paid the La Liga side £200,000 for his season long loan and already he is proving why we paid so much to have him here for just one year.

He has scored 4 goals in the last 5 League games and added another to his tally yesterday in the 3-0 win at home to Southampton.

Gomez said:

‘I’m enjoying my time with Swansea because I’m in the first team.

‘I’m very happy at Swansea. I like the city, the people and the club. If Espanyol tell me I’m not going to play there and if Roberto Martinez offers me a contract then I will stay at Swansea.

‘The way Roberto wants us to play is nice. I think we’re the only team in the Championship that tries to play football.’

Whether or not he has a future at Espanyol is unknown, but judging from his performances so far, it’s unlikely that the Spanish club will want to sell their promising youngster.
