Nathan Dyer is confident that the team can go on a long unbeaten run this season to jump up the table, after a disappointing start to the Championship campaign.

Paulo Sousa’s side have managed just one win in 8 games this season, drawing 4 and losing 3.

Despite the start we’ve made, winger Nathan Dyer is confident we can show a big improvement and challenge near the top of the table this year, he told the Evening Post:

‘Anything can happen for us this season,’

‘If we can get one win or two wins on the trot I think we could go on a long unbeaten run.

‘Sunderland did it a couple of years back and I believe we can do the same.

‘I have a lot of confidence in our squad and the ability we have.

‘I know we play the best football in the Championship — I think everyone would agree with that — and I’ve got no doubts that we can go on and mount a challenge.’

Sousa’s side have struggled to find the net this season, and though only 4 teams have conceded less goals than we have in the League, we need to sort out our finishing to convert draws into wins.

Dyer added:

‘It’s still early days. The season has only just kicked off and people are still finding their feet.

‘We have had a change of manager and, while we are playing with the same system as last year, he has added his own bits and bobs and we have to get used to them.

‘That will come and, as long as we stay strong, things will happen for us. We aren’t that far away from the teams at the top and there’s still a long way to go.’
