Swansea City’s exit from the Capital One Cup last night at the hands of Birmingham City left manager Michael Laudrup frustrated.

He said he had no regrets in making 10 changes to the team as they began their defence of the Capital One Cup.

After losing 3-1, with Bony scoring a late consolation, Laudrup said:

‘I want to go as far as possible in all competitions,’

‘We lost the possibility to go far in the competition’

‘I have no regrets (about making 10 changes). You could say 10 changes from the last game but five of the players who played here were in the starting XI against Valencia.’

Swansea City could have 4-0 up at half time, according to Laudrup but their Championship opposition punished them for not putting their chances away.

‘I don’t think I’m wrong if I say we could have been four up at half-time,’

‘And then with Birmingham’s first chance they score, and then the other two goals I think there was a little misunderstanding at the back and in the end we lost the game.

‘If you have to be positive then we create a lot of chances in every game but, yes, you have to score otherwise this can happen.

‘I think in the first half Birmingham did not even have one chance, a couple of shots on target, nothing more.

‘We could have scored at least four but we didn’t and then it gives them the confidence and belief that they can come back into the game and they did.’
