Swansea City have received the praise of Jordi Cruyff son of the pioneer of total football Johan Cruyff.

The former Espanyol midfielder has highlighted the drive and desire of Roberto Martinez’s young squad will see that Swansea will not struggle in the competitiveness of the Championship. Posing questions of the Liberty Stadium clubs abilities Cruyff thinks that the tests the Swans have faced on the pre season tour of Spain will stand them in good stead and are all part of the learning process.

Cruyff Told The WM:

“I watched the games against Espanyol and Palamos and you have to say it was difficult for Swansea. This was quite different than games in Britain because they were playing against teams with the same system and style. The difference is Espanyol have been playing it for 10 years and Swansea 18 months. It is the same through Spanish football, but these games will be good for Swansea because of the questions that have been asked with the way these teams play. And, even though I know Roberto has a very young team, you can see they are also very hungry and I think they will be all right. They had a brilliant season last year and I`m sure they will do well.”

Swansea City will face Chester City tomorrow evening at the Deva Stadium.
