Swansea City boss Paul Clement says late Summer signings hasn’t helped their early season form after a run of poor results after 6 League games.

The Swans have had a decent run of results away from home, remaining unbeaten at Southampton, Crystal Palace and Spurs – keeping a clean sheet in each, but their main problems have been at home. Last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Watford saw us lose our third consecutive league game for the first time in our history, and our performances have been getting worse and even more negative at the Liberty Stadium.

In Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Paul Clement has batted away questions and doubts over recent performances, insisting that it’s only a matter of time before his team start to click and pick up better results.

And Clement believes part of the problem has been caused by our delayed activity in the Summer transfer window, as we signed both Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches on deadline day – two players – along with Roque Mesa – who require more time to build up their match ‘sharpness’.

Clement said:

‘If you look through some of the players that came in and use Wilfried [Bony] as an example, he hasn’t played regular football for a couple of seasons so that match sharpness is going to take a bit of time to come back,’

‘Renato [Sanches] is in a similar situation. He didn’t play regular football last year, he’s come to a league where the intensity is much higher and the culture is different.

‘Roque Mesa is adapting to a new league, all these are examples of players that are playing minutes for us and just need that little bit of time to get up to speed.’

Clement was also confident that he can improve the team’s attacking ability, because as it stands our shooting stats are by far the lowest in the Premier League.

‘We are working on that and I fully believe we are going to keep improving in that area,’

‘The fact that there were so many ins and outs has had an impact on us in the early part of the season.

‘The more this team train together and play together the better they’re going to get.’
