Chesterfield boss, Roy McFarland believes the Swans can win back to back promotions after his side were thrashed 5-1 on the weekend.

Lee Trundle produced his best performance of the season, scoring a hatrick in the game and McFarland believes we can win promotion providing we hang on to the striker.

‘He was excellent. He took his chances very, very well and in tight situations.

‘I think Swansea will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, providing they hang on to Lee Trundle. But he can see the crowd love and he lovers it here, so I think that it would take a Premiership club to turn his head.

‘I would have to see a bit more of him to see whether is good enough to play at that level, but he is certainly a handful.’

McFarland was dissapointed with his team for not finishing the chances they created: ‘If you look at the stats we conquered everyone of them, but stats don’t win you football matches, goals do. The difference in this game was Lee Trundle and I wish Kenny (Jackett) all the best in trying to keep hold of him.’

‘We defended poorly, not just as a back four but as team. It is very, very difficult to put a game into perspective when you have just been beaten 5-1.’

Kenny Jackett made just 3 signings in the summer, do you think he needs to add players to the squad in the January transfer window to gain promotion? Let us know your thoughts in the Forum here. You can also post comments at the bottom of this article.
