Swansea City’s on loan Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker says he ‘can’t wait’ for tonight’s season opener away at Manchester City.
The 19 year-old is set to make his debut tonight at the Etihad Stadium at centre back alongside Ashley Williams, and he’s ‘excited’ and ‘apprehensive’ ahead of the big game:
“It doesn`t come much bigger than this and I can`t wait,”
“I`ve been looking forward to this moment since I was a little kid and it`s a match to go out and showcase my ability.
“I`m excited and of course at the same time a little apprehensive because we`re up against some of the best players in the world, there is no denying that.’
Caulker also says he has confidence in his ability to do well at the top level:
“I have the belief in myself to do well. I want to go out there and enjoy it as well, hopefully play well and get three points or a draw, any positive scoreline would be fantastic.”
“This is a confident team and very brave in the way they play,”
“The team will play football, regardless of the situation.
“The manager has confidence in the players and he`s emphasised throughout pre-season that he wants to play like that. It`s a confident team and they trust every player on the ball.’
