Brendan Rodgers’ name has been branded about as Garry Monk’s possible replacement, but lets face it, he won’t make a return to the Liberty Stadium.

Monk’s sacking was announced on Wednesday afternoon, and yet, for a couple of days prior to the news, our former boss Brendan Rodgers has been strongly linked with a sensational return to Swansea City.

But, the sooner the media turn their attentions away from Rodgers the better. He’s the favourite amongst the bookies to become Swansea City manager for the second time, but we’re hoping that those odds will quickly drop off, as Sky Sports News – thankfully – have reported that the former Liverpool boss is not in the running to take over at the Liberty Stadium.

Sky bet did have Rodgers as the clear favourite at 1/4, but those odds are dropping now to evens.

Meanwhile, former Borussia Mönchengladbach boss Lucien Favre is an interesting name to see at the top of the list of bookies’ favourites – he’s currently 14/1. He transformed the German side into a top 3 Bundesliga outfit, and got them qualified for the Champions’ League playing an attractive style of football that suits Swansea’s philosophy.

But names like Gus Poyet and David Moyes – currently 2nd and 3rd favourite, don’t excite us whatsoever.

Do you agree with the club’s decision to sack Garry Monk? Who should they appoint as his replacement?
