With Adebayo Akinfenwa set to miss the rest of the season with a broken, the big striker says he hopes he’ll earn a new contract in the Summer.

His current deal expires in June and his long-term injury could have put his future at the club in doubt, but chairman Huw Jenkins says he is keen for him to stay.

Akinfenwa said: ‘My contract is up in the summer and I don’t know what’s going to happen,’

‘But my agent has called me and told me that the chairman (Huw Jenkins) has said he would like me to stay at the club.

‘You know this is the place where I want to be – I’m settled at Swansea and I feel at home here. So now I’ll just leave it up to them to sort things out.

‘Whenever people ask me about my contract, I say that if it’s meant to be for me to stay, I’ll stay.

‘I hope that will be the case, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.’

A new manager could have also effected his chances of staying, but Roberto Martinez knows what Bayo is capable of and I’d expect he’ll definately be kept on.
