Swansea City have rejected Sheffield Wednesday’s £750,000 bid for Lee Trundle.
Swans fans will be glad to hear today that the club have rejected a large bid for our star player. There has been plenty of speculation and rumours linking the scouser with a number of clubs, one of them being Wednesday.
Both the chairman and the player have told the fans via the press that Magic Daps is going nowhere and the 29 year told said today: ”It’s flattering to hear that a massive club like Sheffield Wednesday are prepared to pay some money for me.”
”And it’s nice that they think I could play in the Championship and help get them out of a bad situation.
”It shows that I must be doing something right, but it’s not a move that appeals to me.”
”They’re a big club, but if you look at the footballing side they are not really getting it right.”
”You could go there and you might only get three chances in 10 matches. Then people would be saying ‘Oh I knew he couldn’t do it in the Championship’.”
Trundle has indicated before that he wants to play at a higher level but he feels he doesn’t need a move to do that: ”You look at Sheffield Wednesday and they are near the bottom of the Championship at the moment.”
”The way we’re going at Swansea right now it looks as though we’re going to be fighting to get into that division this season.
”I have got ambition to play there – I want to play at the highest level possible – but I’m hoping that I can do it with Swansea.
”Sheffield Wednesday have made a written offer of £750,000 for Lee Trundle,” Jenkins admitted. ”Obviously we turned it down, as well as pointing out quite clearly that Lee isn’t for sale.
”It’s very nice to receive an offer for one of our players as it shows that we are heading in the right direction, but I can safely say that nobody is going anywhere.
”We are trying to build a squad capable of taking us forward and letting Lee leave would not help that cause.”
