In a recent poll, 60% of our voters believe that we need at least three signings before the Summer transfer window closes at the end of August.

Swansea’s transfer activity this Summer so far:

INs:

Roque Mesa (MF) – £11m – Las Palmas
Erwin Mulder (GK) – Free – Heerenveen
Tammy Abraham (ST) – Season loan – Chelsea

OUTs;

Jack Cork (MF) – £8m – Burnley
Bafetimbi Gomis (ST) – £2m – Galatasaray
Jordi Amat (DF) – Season loan – Real Betis
Borja Baston (ST) – Season loan – Malaga
Marvin Emnes (ST) – Released
Franck Tabanou (LB) – Released
Gerhard Tremmel (GK) – Released

Looking at out transfer activity above, so far – the Swans have brought in like for like replacements for Jack Cork (Roque Mesa) and Borja Baston (Tammy Abraham).

Elsewhere, Gomis was out on loan last season, while Jordi Amat’s place has so far been filled with the return of Kyle Bartley. The other players were not involved around the first team.

Despite covering our key departees, there’s still a desperate need to improve our strength in depth. The last two seasons have proved just how close we can get to relegation if we don’t seriously invest in our playing squad.

The on-going Gylfi Sigurdsson saga appears to be halting our progress in the market, as Everton are still stalling in meeting our £50m valuation for the Icelandic midfielder.

Much has been said amongst Swans fans on the internet about our current squad depth and quality, with the main consensus being that we need at least a centre back, right back and winger/attacking midfielder.

They might have only been early pre-season friendlies during the recent U.S Tour, but we still looked to be lacking in certain areas. We’re struggling to create chances without Gylfi Sigurdsson in the side, and it’s so clear that our wingers aren’t up to the job.

Roque Mesa has already proved to be a huge positive in terms of transfers, and we desperately need to bring in 2-3 players of equal quality to boost our weakest positions within the team.

In our poll, we asked our visitors how many players we need to sign this Summer, and the majority – 53% – said 3-4, with 7% believing we need 5 or more.

36% believe we need 2-3 signings, while the rest think we need 1 or less.
