Swansea City defenders Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor have played a big role in helping Wales qualify for Euro 2016!

What an achievement for Chris Coleman’s side, which also featured two former Swansea City players – Joe Allen and Ben Davies – as despite a 2-0 defeat in Bosnia, qualification was guaranteed on Saturday thanks to Cyprus beating Israel, while Belgium top the group following a win against Andorra.

Wales had only conceded 2 goals prior to the weekend’s defeat with no other team having a better defensive record in Euro 2016 qualification.

It’ll be the first time in 58 years – since 1958 that Wales will play in a major competition and the current squad of players will go down in history.

Whilst the defeat was disappointing, it didn’t hold back the celebrations after the weekend’s game, and Wales will have the chance to round-off their qualification campaign on Tuesday night with a final group match at home against Andorra. A win against the bottom-placed side of the group should happen, as they’ve yet to pick up a single point so far.

Wales’ stand-out win, the win that really boosted their belief of qualification was their 1-0 victory against the clear group favourites – Belgium in their own backyard.

Belgium will top the rankings if they beat Israel on Tuesday.

Wales have also gone up into 8th in the World rankings, above England as the highest home nation.
