While Brendan Rodgers is being linked with yet another vacant manager’s job – this time Chelsea, defender Ashley Williams says the Swansea boss deserves a move to a big club.

While he says his success and ability and deserves a big money move, the Welsh international says he hopes he stays on at the Liberty Stadium.

Rodgers has recently been suggested a possible replacement for Harry Redknapp and Tottenham Hotspur – if he did decide to take the England job.

Following Villas-Boas’ sacking at Stamford Bridge, Rodgers – who was Youth and Reserve Team manager at Chelsea – has been linked with a possible return to the capital as manager.

Williams told BBC Sport:

‘I’d be over the moon if he went to one of the big boys. I think he deserves it,’

‘But we are obviously happy to have him and we don’t want to see him go.

‘He’s been mentioned with all sorts [of clubs]. It just shows how well he has done for us. He just gets on with his job. There’s no drama attached to him.

‘He just keeps his head down and does the job and that’s what we try and do.’

Williams also said that Rodgers is the ideal man for the job at Chelsea:

‘The core of what Roman Abramovich wants to see is Barcelona playing in blue at Stamford Bridge,’

‘If there’s any manager able to bring that sort of style you’d have to say it was Brendan Rodgers.

‘He’s fantastic and I think he should be considered but I think the higher echelons of Chelsea are looking at hyperstars.’
