Ashley Williams has vowed to show Cardiff City that the Liberty Stadium is the home of Welsh football when the two sides clash on Sunday.

The Swans lost their unbeaten home record against Birmingham last week and the outstanding Williams has said that the team is determinied to go on another unbeaten run, starting this weekend.

He told the Evening Post:

‘The Liberty is our place, our ground, and it was very, very disappointing to lose our record last week.’

‘We were all proud of that record and it hurt to throw it away.’

‘Now Cardiff is the first chance we have to make up for that and there’s no better chance.’

‘Maybe there is pressure on us because we’re at home, but it is our patch and we don’t want anybody coming to the Liberty and having it easy.’

‘The Cardiff game is probably just what we need right now. It’s only three points, but we all know it means much more than that.’

‘It’s a massive game, everyone’s going to be up for it and, if we can get the win we want we can kick on and look forward.’

‘Cardiff are a good side, they aren’t up there in the table for nothing, but we can beat them, and doing that will help get our confidence up again.’

Williams believes the last derby helped begin his impressive run of form.

‘The last game was huge, and personally I think I’ve kicked on from there.’

‘The derby was intense and I think that brought the best out of me.’

‘I got home and couldn’t sleep, and that was when I enjoyed seeing how we’d performed as a team and how I’d performed as an individual.’

‘I told myself I would repeat that and be in that zone every time I played.’
