Millwall midfielder Shaun Williams may have a few regrets tonight. Making comments two weeks before playing the Swans being one of them, and completing missing a tackle on Kyle Naughton as the Swansea City fullback struck home the equaliser from 20 yards to help us on our way to an incredible 2-1 win at the Den.

An eye-opener he said. Maybe it was, but we came through it brilliantly, with ten men as well.

You could say that Potter’s pre-match team talk had written itself given his comments, which he strangely made two weeks ago after his side’s first win of the season:

“I watched them on TV last night and I don’t think they should be looking to overachieve and get back to Premier League because they weren’t any great shakes last night.

“It’ll be a different game for them when they come down to the Den, and they have a lot of young boys who haven’t played here before.

“It’ll be an eye-opener for them.

He’s made himself look a bit silly there, and he looked even sillier during the 76th minute today when he got nowhere near Kyle Naughton before his goal:

Graham Potter’s side struggled at Birmingham City and against a similar physical and direct side like Millwall, many fans were fearing another tough game but we came through it brilliantly. Despite losing a player very early, we managed the game pretty well, limited them to very few decent chances and then we turned on the style late on – with substitute Jefferson Montero making the big difference.

Those “young boys” that Williams talked about passed the test with flying colours. There was a big worry that we couldn’t compete against the physical and direct sides but they all showed that they are up for the fight in this league. It’s another big and important experience for our young players and I can imagine they’ll gain a huge amount of confidence after that.
