Aston Villa fans had plenty of praise for Swansea City after watching their side lose to a late Bafetimbi Gomis winner at Villa Park.

Of course, the fans had a variety of different opinions on the game, but so many of them had a lot of good things to say about the Swans, and thought that they were the better of the two sides.

They also thought that Monk had won the tactical battle, by bringing Montero on who created the winning goal, while their own manager Tim Sherwood did nothing to try and deal with the winger’s threat.

Here are some chosen quotes from Vital Villa:

‘Outplayed by a proper premier league team. It’s as simple as that.’

‘They were the better side, just… but gabby should have scored, and delph should have passed to weimann. there sub montero was class, he was what won them the match.’

‘They’re a well established prem team that’s been playing well and due a result. It was always going to be tough and as good as we were last week, Sunderland were pitiful. I’m still not resigned to relegation like I was before Sherwood but it stops us getting carried away. What was with half time boos?! Madness!’

‘Swansea were better side in first half. Second half pretty even. We had quite a lot of chances, on another day Sinclair could have had a hat trick. Disappointing but not depressing.’

‘Thought we had the better chances. They passed and kept ball and pressed better. Look forward to highlights as seemed to me gabby and Benteke could have scored and Sinclair x 2 should have scored and one time if Sinclair had squared the ball there was a tap in for weimann. No disaster with other results but a shame with just 3 mins to go. A neutral contact of mine, an editor on another site, was there and thought a draw would have been fair.’

‘Swansea deserved the win, but it’s still bitterly disappointing to concede so late on. A reality check for sure, QPR game is even more massive than it was before.’

‘Swansea were the better team though, thats not beyond doubt, but a draw was the fair result, and giventhe other results, would have been a good one.’

‘Swansea could well have been 2-0 up at the break. You give a team with their level of technical ability time on the ball and they will put your lights out. It’s a lesson we fail to learn over and over and over again.’

‘Was a great performance from Swansea our only real answer was to counter and this is where the Sherwood questions have come in before… Is he tactically astute enough? I think he still has a lot to learn.’
