Chester City boss Mark Wright says he won’t stand in Martinez’s way if he’s offered the Swansea manager job.

Along with Dean Saunders, the Spaniard is one of the favourites to take over as Swans’ boss and Wright says they’ll allow him to make a return to his former club.

He said: ‘If Roberto is given the chance, he would probably want to jump at the opportunity to get into management and you can’t fault him for that,’

‘If Swansea approach us and do the right things, and the chairman and I think it’s the right decision, then we’ll do it.

‘It’s very hard to stand in the way of people when they get good jobs, even though to lose Roberto would be a loss to us because we work so hard to get players like him in.

‘It would be very disappointing if we were to lose him, but at the same time you have to think about the lad.’

The club has began interviewing possible candidates and Huw Jenkins said this week: ”There are a lot of very good candidates, and we’ve still got people coming from nowhere and expressing their interest,’

”It’s not something we’re just going to jump in to. This decision is about the future of Swansea City over the next few years, not just the next few games, and it’s going to take time.

”We are going through the process of talking to various people and meeting quite a few.

”It’s about asking people about the club and what they feel they can do for us.”
