Injury prone defender Steven Watt has stated his intentions to prove his worth at Swansea City.
Watt talked to The South Wales Evening Post about next season; and expressed his desire to be sent out on loan to gain match experience.
This will boost his chances of securing a Long term career at Swansea.
Since Watt signed on a free transfer from Chelsea his time here has been littered with problems both on and off the pitch.
In spite of this Martinez offered the 22 year-old defender a new contract.
Watt told The South Wales Evening Post:
|“Once I sit down with Roberto this week I’m sure that is one of the things that will be discussed.|
Roberto feels that it is best for me to go out on loan, then I’m more than happy to do so.”’
Watt has been injured since the FAW Cup quarter final vs Port Talbot and has only made 3 appearances.
Sending out Watt on loan to get match experience and to boost his fitness is vitally important.
Watt seems to have the desire to pay back the faith that Martinez has shown him in offering him a new contract.
Some have referred to him as deadwood but he has not shown his worth fully at the club and he must be given a chance to show what he can do.
