Goalkeeper Michel Vorm says he has played his last game for FC Utrecht and will sign a three-year deal to complete a move to Swansea City.

The Swans have had a fee of around £1.6m agreed with the Dutch side and the player’s agent has been in the city this weekend to discuss a move with chairman Huw Jenkins.

Thanks to forum member ‘FCUmyclub’, he has informed us that Vorm has said that he’s played his final game for Utrecht as they drew 0-0 yesterday with VVV Venlo.

Vorm also told Dutch national TV that ‘he’s looking forward to playing at Swansea City’ and that he ‘couldn’t wait to get there’.

He also told us what sort of goalkeeper he is and the quality he’ll add to the team:

He’s just 183 cm but nevertheless decent on corners and crosses.

If possible he will always try to catch a ball but due to his length sometimes he has to choose for punching.

At FC Utrecht he is famous for his reflexes on the line, which saved us again in yesterdays game.

Of course we also know Dorus de Vries here, but Vorm is really way much better than Dorus, otherwise he wouldn’t be in the national squad as well.

Another strong point of Vorm is that he’s always very calm, in any condition, which is good for the defenders also I think. His calmness helped us through the game at Anfield in the Europa League.

Vorm’s signing should be completed by Monday hopefully, and Rodgers said:

“We`ve agreed a fee,”

“Obviously, the personal terms are still to be agreed.

“I`m sure everything will be straight forward. I would say by the end of the weekend everything could be agreed.

“If we end up doing the deal that gets Michel in then it`s a wonderful signing for the club as he`s got experience and there are many terrific Dutch goalkeepers. So for him to be the Dutch number two is a great coup for the club.

“But I think it says it all that we can attract a player of that calibre to this club. He suits our style which is the reason why it`s taken so long for us to get the right type of goalkeeper.

“I think the Dutch players like knowing they have to play in a certain style as well.

“The philosophy at our club will suit him very well.

“He`s got great speed, great footwork, his agility is very good and he understands the game.

“It`s a mark of respect to Dorus in the time it`s taken to find the right replacement.

“The goalkeeping position is very important. If we can get another one to come in and force their way to be the number one then that will be fantastic.

“I`ve said all along I was always quite calm with the fact that we`d get the type of players we want.

“If we can get him in we`ve still got one or two other bits of business to go that could strengthen us even more.”
