Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas said there was only one team that looked likely to win today’s game at White Hart Lane, as his side managed to break down a resilient Swansea team in the 75th minute to claim all three points.
The stats, in terms of chances of goal, tells the story of the game, as Spurs went with the win, creating 17 chances, while Laudrup’s team could only manage 3 shots off target in the 90 minutes.
Ashley Williams produced a man of the match performance to keep a strong Spurs team out for 75 minutes, but they were unfortunate to concede a goal that looked offside.
Villas-Boas said after the game:
‘If there was one team to win the game then I thought it would be us,’
‘We had the bigger share of possession and had lots of shots. There was also plenty of desire from players.
‘Swansea were difficult to break down as they defended well, but it was a hard fought win and a deserved one in the end.’
The win was vital for the hosts as the three points puts them back in the top four and 2 ahead of Everton – who dropped points against Stoke City.
The Swans meanwhile, slipped down to tenth.
