Dutch trialist Michael van der Heijden has admitted that he would love to join Swansea City.

The 26 year old midfielder has impressed Swans boss Roberto Martinez after the two pre-season friendlies against Neath Athletic and Port Talbot Town. After scoring the 4th goal in the 5-0 rout over the Eagles on Wednesday evening the Dutchman has certainly given himself the best opportunity earn a contract at the Liberty Stadium next season.

Van der Heijden has other options after a successful trial with RBC Roosendaal the Eerste Divisie side are thought to have offered the midfielder a contract. However, the opportunity to play for a British side has great appeal for the former Haarlem player. Citing the influence of Ferrie Bodde who he played with at ADO Den Haag from 2000-2002 was a reason to why he came to South Wales on trial. The midfielder who played for FC Lisse last term is available on a free transfer.

Heijden Told The SWEP:

“I played with Ferrie at Den Haag – he is a good friend of mine. He says Swansea is a good club and I had to come here on trial. This is a good team and the players have been very nice to me. I like the manager and I would like to play for Swansea. It would be a dream to play in the English League. I am in good shape. I had 45 minutes on Wednesday and it was good for me to get the goal. I think I played well.”
