Lee Trundle has given the fans and the club as a whole a big boost after saying he’d be happy to end his playing career with Swansea City.

He’s said earlier this week he would never ask to leave the club and wants to play at a higher level with this club, rather than leave for the likes of Sheffield United, Hull City and other clubs that have been linked with the scouser.

I’m 29 in 10 days’ time – the probability is that my next deal will be my last in terms of playing.

‘I’d love my final contract to be with Swansea City because I’ve really enjoyed every moment of my time at the football club.

‘The Swans have been brilliant for me. I’ve scored a lot of goals and have played consistently well – the Swansea public have really taken me to their hearts and that is something I’ll always be grateful to them for.

‘I would sit down and talk about extending my stay with Swansea. I’d love to remain with the Swans for the rest of my career – there is no doubt in my mind about that.

‘At this point, I’m loving my football. There is every chance that I could be playing in the Championship with Swansea this time next year – that’ll be yet another challenge I’ll take in my stride.’

‘Somebody told me I’d become the first Swansea player to get 20 goals in a season since Bob Latchford in the early 1980s.

‘The quest for me now is to achieve a greater goal tally this season. I’ve got nine goals in as many games so far – I can’t ask for any more than that at this moment.’
