Second choice goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel says he’s looking to prove himself to the manager as he looks set to come in to replace the injured Michel Vorm.
Swansea City’s number one shot stopper Vorm will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks after suffering a groin injury during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Manchester City, and Tremmel told the Official Site that he sees this as the perfect opportunity to prove his quality to manager Michael Laudrup.
“It will an interesting few weeks ahead,”
“We have Liverpool on Wednesday and Chelsea next Saturday.
That`s why I came here to Swansea. Obviously, Michel played very well last season, as did the whole team.
“You don`t many chances, but I was training hard and I wanted to prove to the manager that I can come in and play.
“Now I have a chance, because of an injury, but hopefully I can get a few games now.”
“I hope Michel gets well very soon – it`s obviously a bad feeling when you come on because of an injury.
“Luckily I didn`t have much to do when I came on, because the team played so well.
“I think we deserved at least a point because in the second half, especially, we created some good chances.
“We dominated Manchester City in the second half, and it`s something we need to take positives from, particularly when you realise they only created one chance.”
Vorm’s loss will be a massive blow as we all know what vital saves he can make to keep us in games. Hopefully Tremmel can step up to the mark and prove a reliable backup over the next 2 months or so.
