Tom Williams started his career with West Ham United as a trainee, however he failed to secure a first team game and in 2001 he transferred to Peterborough United where he made 36 appearances scoring two goals.
He started his journeyman quest and joined Birmingham City only a season later. He was signed on loan that lasted two days and was signed out right for £350,000.
The Journeyman tag continued after being sent out on loan to QPR and resigned for the Posh. Williams found games hard to come by at Birmingham City and was signed to Barnsley on a free transfer in 2004.
He made 39 appearances for Barnsley before moving on again to Gillingham on a free transfer in 2005 where he made 13 appearances for the club.
Williams arrived at the liberty in 2006 for an undisclosed fee, he was much criticised at the start of his time at the liberty stadium and his hot headed nature certainly was cause for concern. In spite of this Williams has proved himself, improved his play and has given the team another option in the left wing position with excellent crossing ability.
Williams has also played for Cyprus due to his mother being of Cypriot nationality. He has expressed a desire to secure more international experience.
Has only made 12 appearances and 4 as a sub this season due to injuries. A left midfielder, originally acquired as a left back, has pace and the ability to deliver crosses, sometimes accurately, sometimes wayward.
Looked poor when he first signed for us but he’s beginning to find his feet now and he has produced some good performances lately. Very good crosser of the ball and has a lot of pace . IMO his best position is left midfield as he has the pace to go round the opposition and has a good cross.
On his day a quality player, but he’s just a little too unpredictable at times
