Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is unlikely to feature in Monday’s season opener against Swansea City.

The Blues’ boss Roberto Mancini has revealed that the Argentinian probably won’t be ready to play on Monday after a long Summer of speculation linking him with a move closer to home.

Tevez expressed his desire to make a move closer to his family in Argentina, and a move to Brazilian side Corinthians fell through.

Tevez has finally arrived back at Manchester City for training, having previously said he’d never return to the club, but a lack of training sessions means he’ll probably miss the opening game of the Premier League season.

Mancini said:

‘Carlos is here and maybe he is not ready to play because he has only worked four days, but he has worked well and he is here,’

‘For Monday I think it is difficult because he need to work more but for the next game he will be available.’
