Swansea City left back Neil Taylor could make a return from injury on Wednesday night against Birmingham City

Swansea City left back Neil Taylor could make a return from injury on Wednesday night against Birmingham City as Michael Laudrup’s side begin their Capital One Cup defence in the third round.

They travel to Championship side Birmingham City as they have yet another fixture to add to their already hectic schedule.

Taylor has been sidelined since August with a dead leg, which he picked up in the Europa League match against Petrolul.

Ashley Williams and Pablo Hernandez are not expected to be risked and are unlikely to travel with the squad.

Kyle Bartley can’t face his own club during his Birmingham loan spell so he’ll miss out along with Manchester United loanee striker Jesse Lingard, who fired in 4 goals in Saturday’s 4-1 win against Barnsley.

Laudrup could make a number of changes to the team as he looks ahead to Saturday’s tough home game against in-form Arsenal.

The likes of defenders – Garry Monk, Jordi Amat, Dwight Tiendalli and Neil Taylor will be hoping for starts as well as midfielders Roland Lamah, Alejandro Pozuelo and Leon Britton – who has been subbed recently in favour of Jose Canas.
