Alan Tate will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury

Swansea City have suffered a blow this week with the news that vice-captain will miss the rest of the season.

The former Manchester United trainee requires an operation on his ankle and has been playing through the pain barrier since February – taking injections before matches in order to play.

It was hoped that his operation could wait until the end of the season to allow him to play the final few games, but it’s emerged that he’s broken a bone in his ankle.

Tate has had a superb season this year, playing consistently well at both centre back and left back and is a strong contender for the club’s player of the season.

Argentinian left back Fede Bessone’s return helps to cover Tate’s absence.
