Alan Tate could miss the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury during today’s 3-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace.
The stand-in skipper is the 4th player at left back to suffer a long-term injury this season. Marcos Painter was the first, followed by Fede Bessone and Aston Villa loanee Stephen O’Halloran.
Martinez explained to BBC Sport that he might be out for just 3 weeks if he’s just twisted ankle ligaments, if he’s ruptured them though, it could be 6-8 weeks on the sidelines:
‘It doesn’t look good as Alan always plays through the pain but he had to come off this time,’
‘If he is lucky and it’s a twisted ankle,’
‘That would probably be three weeks out but if it’s ruptured, it could be between six and eight weeks.’
