Swedish Jacks Touch Down In Swansea

Pelle Nilsson from Svenskafans.com’s Swansea City site on his first taste of match action from the Liberty Stadium.

In what must be considered the longest commute ever to see Swansea City play, 4 intrepid explorers Pelle,Peter,Benna and Patrik from Swansea City’s svenskafans.com site paid their first visit to see the Swans.

The boys jetted in from Sverige to see the Swans in the 0-0 draw with Brighton on the 29th September. Here is Pelle’s diary and pictures from his and the boys weekend in Wales.

In late August me and some of the Jacks of Sweden finally decided to visit Swansea.Unfortunately most of us couldn´t stay for more than one game and we picked the battle against Brighton.Next time we will surely stay for both the Saturday and the Tuesday game.

Considering the travelling everything went on really smooth all the time. The plane was on schedule, so was the train from London to Swansea and so on. The Bed ´n´n Breakfast place in Swansea was also of high standards. And it hardly rained during the time we spent there.

Arriving at 5 pm on the Thursday we were very thirsty. After visiting some smaller pubs we ended up at Wind Street. We enjoyed the place a lot more this compared to the Friday and Saturday (crazy and over crowded!)

Friday:
official shop (at last! Since you can´t order from the internet we had longed for this place).

We also bumped into some guys working at the clubs administration and we had an exclusive visit at the pitch inside the Stadium. Very, very nice indeed!

Then we went off to the Swansea Museum which was not very special! In the evening we took the train to Port Talbot (2-1 win against Aberystwyth) and it was nice to watch Kerry Morgan.I talked to him very briefly after the game wished him good luck etc.

Saturday:
Was the fantastic game day. Surely we were all a bit disappointed with the 0-0 result but maybe this was the wake up call (2-1, 5-0 since then…). It was also the first game for Orlandi and you could see right away the player got some talent. Butler, Monk, Bodde and De Vries also played at an acceptable level.

Not the other boys I´m afraid. But these things happens and I believe this situation is very typical when you spend a lot of money travelling for just one game. Like I said, next time there`ll be two!

During the Sunday we met John Jones . Really a nice man and he showed us the old Vetch. We´ve visited the Arena before (since it´s located between the central part of Swansea and our B´n´B place but John told us some interesting stories we didn´t know about.

After some time in a music store and a cup of coffee we said good bye to him. We´ll meet him again next year. We tried to drink some beer in the evening but we were all tired at this stage. Bedtime early and trip home the day after.

Swansea was a really nice city and like I said, we will come back next year. I hope we´ll meet some of you then!

I am so thrilled you and the lads had a great time even thought the game was poor. Hope to catch up with you when you next come over. Thank you Pelle.
