Swansea City are waiting on the fitness of winger Pablo Hernandez ahead of Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United.
Michael Laudrup hasn’t been lucky with injuries this season, and with another game coming up, there’s another player’s fitness to assess.
Michel Vorm, Neil Taylor and Kyle Bartley are the current long term absentees, Chico Flores has missed the last 2 games, while Ki Sung Yeung will miss the Newcastle game with a hamstring injury.
Kemy Agustien may also still be out with a toe problem as Laudrup considers what changes to make to his team on Saturday.
This week, Pablo Hernandez, along with Ashley Williams and Chico Flores will be assessed to see if they can be fit.
‘We have to see about Pablo, who twisted his ankle last weekend, and also about Chico,’
‘Ashley has a dead leg too ? it is the time for dead legs at Swansea ? but we think he should be okay.
‘Unlike Chico, he was able to stay on and finish the game when he got his, and that shows you it is not as serious. I thought Chico would have made it back for Southampton, but he still wasn’t right so we will have to see.’
Despite the doubts surrounding defensive duo Ashley Williams and Chico Flores, Laudrup says he has more concerns for midfield and attack:
‘It’s not that I am worried if Chico is not there because I think Garry has done very well in our last two games,’
‘Obviously I want Chico to be okay because you want all your players available so you can make the choices you want.
‘But I think it’s a little more the midfield and the forwards we have to think about this week.
‘And then after Newcastle we have three games in six days, so we have to think about that too. We have to be prepared for today and a little for tomorrow as well.’
