Swansea City are on the verge of capturing Espanyol defender Alberto Serrán according to goal.com

The 24 year old defender has been linked with a move to The Liberty Stadium over the course of the summer and it is now thought that Espanyol manager Tintín Márquez is keen to offload Serrán who made his first team début last season. Should the defender make the move to British football he will become Roberto Martinez’s fourth signing this summer and will take the Spanish complement at the club to six.

However the former Chester City player has cooled speculation over Serrán’s imminent arrival by revealing that no approach for the player has been made but he has been watched by the club.

Martinez Told The BBC:

“He is a defender that made his debut in La Liga this season and has played at international level with Spain. We have watched him a few times, he has a huge reputation and it doesn’t go further than that.”

Meanwhile Kevin Amankwaah has joined Swindon Town on a free transfer.
