Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that they received an offer from a League One club for midfielder Shaun MacDonald.

Rodgers hasn’t named which League One side it is, but he says the offer is close to their valuation of the player.

MacDonald has had five successful loan spells in recent years at Yeovil Town, so there’s a possibility that the Glovers may look to sign him permanently if they have the funds to do so.

Rodgers told BBC Sport:

‘We’ve had an offer for Shaun which is near our valuation,’

‘It is a League One club and one or two others are interested. But it is a big decision for Shaun.’

It’s been said for a while now that it’s probably best all round if the young Welshman moves to another club to play regular first team football. He’s shown he has the quality to do well at League 1 level but he’s going to find first team opportunities at Swansea very limited.

Rodgers added:

‘He is a great guy and is no problem whatsoever,’

‘But he knows his chances here are very, very limited.

‘He is from Swansea, he loves the club and is a difficult club to walk away from now because it has grown so much in the last season.

‘I’m just trying to help and give him advice on what is the best possible move for his career. But I respect and understand he needs time.’
