Swansea City look set to lose a second loan striker next week, as Marvin Emnes will return to Middlesbrough after spending a month at the Liberty Stadium.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will therefore be forced to step his search for a replacement after he also saw Frank Nouble return to West Ham United after he was recalled early by the Premiership club.

The Swans were hoping to extend Emnes’ stay in South Wales, but with a change in manager, new boss at the Riverside Stadium – Tony Mowbray will want to assess all of his squad as he looks to improve Boro’s poor run of form which puts them second from bottom in the Championship.

Marvin Emnes will be available for Swansea’s next two games, Sunday’s derby against Cardiff City and Tuesday’s match vs Bristol City.

Swansea City have recently been linked with a loan move for West Brom striker Simon Cox.
