Swansea City loanee Tom Carroll and Jefferson Montero have withdrawn from international duty due to injury

Swansea City loanee Tom Carroll and Jefferson Montero have withdrawn from international duty due to injury.

Tom Carroll was the star man in England under-21s 1-0 win against Czech Republic, captaining the side and scoring the winning goal in the game.

But the Spurs midfielder has picked up an injury, and while it’s not known how bad the injury is, it’s been confirmed that he has withdrawn from international duty and returned to his club.

There was also an injury blow for Jefferson Montero, who picked up a thigh injury in Ecuador’s 1-0 defeat against Mexico.

Again, the extent of the injury is not known but it’s certainly a blow given his recent form – even if he’s only managed to make an impact coming off the bench.

Meanwhile, Welsh duo Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor started in their superb 3-0 away win in Israel. Two former Swans also started in Chris Coleman’s side – Liverpool’s Joe Allen and Spurs’ Ben Davies.
